  • Spring into Community Action Luncheon — Non-Profit Showcase

         Be sure to join us Wednesday, April 17, 2024 at 11:30 am Langley's Restaurant at Great Neck Country Club, 28 Lamphere Road, Waterford, for our Spring into Community Action Luncheon, $25 for all registered by midnight Sunday, $30 at the door (walk-ins welcome), includes gratuity and tax.      

  •      The April 17th luncheon will feature tabletop displays from many of our own Network member non-profit organizations, as well as community agencies that our members are affiliated with who may be looking for volunteers, helping hands, advisers, collaborators, Board members, and donors.  We’ll have time to meet the different representatives and see what areas interest us as we “Spring Into Community Action.”  And by each of us helping out locally, we help to build our community, and very likely, our own businesses!                                                      Event Sponsor

    Always Home, Inc.
    For 25 years Always Home has pursued a single mission, Preventing Family Homelessness. Our goal is to keep families housed and to help parents create lasting stability for their children. We focus exclusively on serving Eastern Connecticut families with minor children and work to keep them in their own housing and out of emergency shelter, so children never have to experience the trauma of being homeless.
    Artreach, Inc. – Artreach’s mission is to heal through creativity. Their programs use the creative arts to support sustainable recovery from psychiatric disorders and to raise awareness about mental health in the community-at-large. By providing theater, music, visual arts, and recreational opportunities to members, we enhance the quality of our members' lives and teach skills that help them achieve and sustain recovery after experiencing mental illness.
    Auxiliary of L+M Hospital was founded in 1914 and has maintained its mission "to support L+M Hospital and all its efforts to improve the health of the community,"  for 110 years.  The members of the Auxiliary have adapted to the needs of each era.  They have provided the materials,  equipment, monetary needs, morale boosters and much more for the hospital and the community.  L+M Hospital is the cornerstone of our community. The Auxiliary and its 200 members are proud to be  continuing supporters.

  • Beauty Bridge Foundation, Inc – Beauty Bridge Salon offers free personal care services to women in need. The organization's purpose is to provide no-cost beauty services performed by volunteer, skilled, licensed cosmetologists. Beauty Bridge is a safe, caring space. Our vision is to open the door to beauty and personal care, removing the traditional obstacles of cost and access.
    Community of Hope – Community of Hope House: Is a Christian transitional home in Groton for adult women coming out of addictions, abuse or homelessness. Our mission is to empower women to rebuild their lives in a peaceful, safe home while achieving sobriety and self-respect.
    Connecticut Humane Society (CHS) – is the leading resource in the state for companion animal welfare, enriching the lives of families and communities through adoption services, medical care, education and prevention of cruelty. With locations in Newington, Waterford and Westport, CHS served over 4,800 pets and more than 13,000 people in 2022 via: • Preserving families by keeping pets in homes • Animal sheltering and placement: No pet is euthanized due to time, space, breed, or age, resulting in a 95.4% live release rate. • Elevating animal welfare statewide: CHS offers adoption support, training, veterinary services, and supplies to other animal welfare organizations. • Fostering a humane world: Over 7,000 learners of all ages engage with CHS every year through humane education programs, tours, service projects, and more.
    Girl Power Collaborative & Girls on the Run of Southeastern CT
  •  – Girl Power Collaborative represents 4 nonprofits= Girls on the Run, Girl Scouts, S.T.E.P.S. & Soroptimist CT. Shoreline. These 4 nonprofits work to improve the lives of girls and women in our region, nationally and internationally. Girl Power was recognized in 2019 by the Eastern Chamber as the 1st Collaboration of the Year. Our annual Girl Power Bowlathon is the 1st Sunday in May....on the 5th this year!!
    Madonna Place, Norwich CTbegan as a respite center for women with children in 1981 and incorporated in 1987 in the city of Norwich. Since it's beginning, Madonna Place continues to be an inviting and safe place for families to receive support, resources and services. They add and adapt programs based on the needs of clients and the communities served. Their mission to provide programs that strengthen families, support health, and prevent child abuse and neglect has been critical. Classes, food and clothing distribution and programs for adults and children are only a few of their services.
    Operation Fresh Start New Beginnings – Operation Fresh Start Inc. is a community based non-profit 501(c)(3) charity serving our neighbors
    in New London County. We assist families with children in crisis, giving them a much-needed hand up. We provide household items to set up apartments, backpacks full of necessary items for children and a helping hand when needed.
    Sound Community Services
    – Sound Community Services is a private, not-for-profit organization dedicated to education, assisting, and supporting individuals with persistent mental illness and/or substance use disorders. We provide supports for adults with mental illness and addiction that assist in achieving healthy independence and success them in the community. Our current multi-program approach offers social rehabilitation, community support, supportive housing, residential, clinical, and psychiatric services.
    STEPS Inc.STEPS, Inc. is a non-profit organization committed to empowering girls and uplifting communities by providing programs and support. It delights me each time I hear about our girls using the tools we provide them to make positive choices to move them in the right direction. The workshops in our program are developed to concentrate on the whole girl. 
    Waterford VFW Post #6573 –is the only Veteran support organization in Waterford, run entirely by volunteers, donations and raffles. We help Veterans, and people in need, with food, clothing, mainly at the holidays. Raffles and dances to help raise the money along with any donations. We have Christmas, Easter & Halloween Parties for the children. We have coat drives for people in need of winter coats. We give out turkeys/hams, if they can’t cook them, we, at the club will send a cooked dinner. We buy (at BJ S,) cookies for ill Veterans, up in Rocky Hill, and bring them to them. The Aux. has 30 members, the Post has 48, but many are aged. We will need help putting Flags In at our local cemeteries prior to Memorial Day.
