Carol J. Williams served as Associate Dean of the School of Continuing Education at Eastern Connecticut State University for 35 years. During those years, hundreds of working adults completed their bachelor's degrees through the School, attending Eastern part time. Carol earned her PhD degree in Educational Leadership with a specialty in Adult and Human Resource Education from the University of Connecticut. Her dissertation examined the role of “self-efficacy” in the motivation of adult students. In 2012, Carol received a grant from the American Council on Education (ACE) to develop a “reverse internship” program for working adult students which allowed them to earn college credits for their learning through life experience. Carol has long been involved in community service in Eastern Connecticut. She has served the following organizations over the years: the United Way, the Willimantic Rotary Club, the American Association of University Women, Windham Hospital and the Community Foundation of Eastern Connecticut. Currently, Carol serves as Secretary of the Windham Hospital Foundation Board of Trustees. She is a Trustee of the Community Foundation of Eastern Connecticut and serves as Co-Chair of the Women and Girls Funds Task Force on Public Policy. Carol also serves on the Advisory Committee of the Jeffrey P. Ossen Family Foundation which annually distributes approximate $1 million in grants to the Windham region. Carol lives in Willimantic with her husband and two cats.
