Military Appreciation Luncheon — Lori Marriott — Easter Seals/ Veterans Rally Point — "Victory for Veterans"

Join Us Wednesday, November 17, 2021 at 11:30 am for our monthly luncheon meeting, price $20 for members and non-members, register online, pay online or cash only at Filomena's in Waterford, CT.
     Lori Marriott serves as Senior Director of Military Services at Easterseals – Veterans Rally Point.  She was the first member of the Veterans Rally Point team in March 2018.
    She oversees the Women’s Veterans Initiative, The Peer Support Programs, and the Caregiver Retreats for our Military & Veteran Family programs. She is a key player in the process surrounding the $2.5 million state bond grant for the build-out of an 18,000 sq ft “Veterans Rally Point Center of Excellence” in Norwich, CT.

Please bring your donation items to the November 17th luncheon. All items will be donated to Easter Seals Veterans Rally Point for distribution to local Veterans in need.

All items are needed for both men and women:

  • Socks
  • Packages of underwear
  • Belts – all sizes
  • Joggers (sweatpants)
  • Dockers casual pants
  • Polo shirts – long & short sleeve – variety of colors
  • Sleepwear
  • Athletic wear
  • Toiletry items (for toiletry kits) – full sized toothbrush/toothpaste, floss, full sized shampoo & conditioner, deodorant, body wash, mini manicure kit (nail file, clippers), mini Q tips box, hand sanitizer wipes, ear plugs, eye mask, body wipes, face covering/mask, comb/brush.
  • Toiletry Kit Bags/Backpacks (for toiletry kits, grab and go!) – instead of plastic bags, maybe a drawstring sling bag or backpack.

     Lori is a prior service active duty Army CPT. Commissioned through the Reserve Officer Training Corps (ROTC) in May 1988 with a Regular Army Commission; received the Distinguished Military Graduate Award.
     Lori attended the US Army Airborne School, Ft Benning, GA as an ROTC cadet, Quartermaster Officer Basic Course at Ft Lee, VA where she was awarded the unit guidon for the Company “Spirit Award” by her peers and cadre, US Army Parachute Rigger Course. Ft Lee, VA .
     Her first official job in the Army was a Recruiter at Providence College for their ROTC program. Livorno, Italy at Camp Darby (1989 – 1992), Desert Shield/Desert Storm (1991), Lori was responsible for Tent City at Camp Darby.
   Units deploying from the US into the war zone were housed in tents while their munitions, weapons, and supplies were prepped and loaded. She reported daily to the Southern European Task Force Commander, a 4-star general, on the number of units and personnel due in, departing, and presently on-site. The health and well-being of these troops while in her care, were of utmost importance to her.  These troops were heading off to the war zone.
    Lori’s awards: Parachutist Badge, Parachute Rigger Badge, Army Meritorious Service Medal, Army Commendation Meda,l Army Achievement Medal, Army Overseas Service Medal, CT Wartime Service Medal.  
    After years of being a stay-at-home mom, Lori went back to school to become a Certified Fitness Trainer. She ran her own fitness business from 2007 – 2017. She is an avid runner. Ran her first marathon as a gift to herself for her 50th birthday! And, her second at aged 51.
    She has raised two children – Jack, a recent graduate of Boston College, now working fulltime at BC, and simultaneously pursuing his MBA. Her daughter Julia is a senior at NYU studying English and Dramatic Literature.
