Recognizing the Value of Public Service
Ayanti E. Grant, Esq. is the District Director for U.S. Congressman Joe Courtney, 2nd Congressional District. As the district director, she develops and implements policy objectives, strategies and operating plans for the Congressman's Norwich and Enfield district offices. She has served in this capacity since June 2014 and has been a member of his staff since 2007. The district offices are responsible for the constituent services aspect of the congressman’s public engagement mission. She and her staff provide constituents with the resources and assistance necessary to navigate the benefit processes associated with various federal agencies such as the Department of State, the Department of Homeland Security, the Department of Veterans Affairs, and the Social Security Administration. Ayanti’s work in immigration has been the most meaningful aspect of her career with the Congressman. As the lead immigration caseworker, she has reunited families separated by civil war and natural disasters. And, she has witnessed the joy of individuals becoming legal permanent residents and US citizens after waiting years for a final adjudication of their case. Commensurate with direct constituent services, Ayanti uses that data from this casework to prioritize the Congressman’s legislative agenda, ensuring that it reflects the needs of the constituents. Equally important as constituent services, Ayanti engages regularly with community stakeholders to not only educate them about the Congressman’s legislative work, but to establish and maintain meaningful partnerships across the district. She sits on the Board of several agencies and organizations servicing eastern Connecticut. Ayanti joined the CT Bar in 2005.
